Welcome to the website of the first international symposium devoted, in France, to Social Reproduction Theories (SRT), which will open its doors at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. You shall find here the description of the symposium, the programme, the abstracts of the conferences and the speakers biobibliographies, as well as the practical informations needed.
The website is illustrated with two photographs taken from the Washing / Tracks / Maintenance : Outside 1973 performance by artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles at the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, Connecticut, the oldest art museum in the United States. Included into the exhibition c. 7,500 organized by Lucy Lippard, it is part of a series of performances belonging to « maintenance art », theorized by Ulekes in herManifesto for Maintenance Art, 1969! published in 1971.
