Claude Gautier

Claude Gautier, professor of philosophy at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, works on the history of modern Anglo-Scottish skepticism [Voir et connaître la société. Regarder à distance dans les Lumières écossaises, Ens-Editions, Col. La croisée des chemins, Lyon 2020; « La raison des animaux » in Lire l'Enquête sur l'entendement humain de Hume, C. Etchegaray & Ph. Hamou (Coor.), Paris, Vrin, 2022]. His research also focuses on the pragmatism of John Dewey [Dossier « Pragmatismes et naturalismes », Archives de Philosophie, Paris, 2024-2, forthcoming]. At the crossroads of the history of empiricism and pragmatism, a third line of research focuses on the relationship between philosophy and the social sciences, and more specifically on the question of critical regimes in the social sciences [Dossier coordinated with E. Renault: “Critique et sciences sociales", Revue Asterion 2023, Lyon-Ens].
