Prabha Kotiswaran is a Professor of Law and Social Justice at the King’s College London Dickson Poon School of Law. Her main areas of research include Feminist legal theory, critical legal studies, sociology of law, laws of social reproduction. Her publications include: Dangerous Sex, Invisible Labor: Sex Work and the Law in India, published at Princeton University Press in 2011, offering a materialist feminist theory of sex work, empirical study of sex work in two Indian cities, left legal analysis of policy approaches to sex work; Governance Feminism: An Introduction, co-autherd with Janet Halley, Hila Shamir and Rachel Rebouché, in 2018; followed by Governance Feminism: Notes from the Field, published in 2019 (University of Minnesota Press). She has also published the articles Do Feminists need an Economic Sociology?, Journal of Law and Society, 2013; An Ode to Altruism: How Indian Courts Value Unpaid Work, Economic & Political Weekly, 2021; Laws of Social Reproduction, Annual Review of Law and Social Science, 2023.
